Buy a sheet of 5mm thick synthetic rubber off eBay. Comes in 200mm by 200mm squares.
Cut a strip of the desired width to wrap around tight or stuck parts.
Use your fingers to grab and twist rather than using pliers.
Its the same idea as a rubber glove to open stubborn jars in the kitchen.
What tools are needed for fixing lenses?

Specifically older and newer FD lenses. I am eager to try this since I found some local shops with very cheap fd lenses in need of some cleaning.
